Poesies and Bowsies - New Crocheted Hair Accessories

You may have noticed that I haven't posted in a while.  You're about to see why.  I've been working on some new crocheted items in preparation for the Berkley Art Bash, coming up on June 14.  I had a great time last year and I am really looking forward to another fun day of sun, sales, food, art and music.

Last year, my son, Tony, shared space with me and sold his children's books.  This year, he and Emily Zelasko, the artist who has created the illustrations for his most recent children's book, Viper Girl Kicks Canadian Robottom, and for his comic book series, Rainbow Sprinkle Slime, will be sharing a booth together.  They will be in space #12 and I am in #11.

Originally, I was going to post photos of all the new creations I've been making for the Berkley Art Bash, but after taking all the photos, I felt like it would be overwhelming to do it all at once.  So, for today, I'm just going to share photos of the new hair accessories (or as I like to call them "hair ornaments") I've made.

Hair Ties/Pony Tail Elastics with Crocheted Flowers

I love this smooth, colorful elastic -- it holds hair well, doesn't snag in your hair, and looks great!  I purchased it from Hair Craft Supply on Etsy.

Most of the crocheted flowers that I used for these hair ties are based on patterns from Caitlin Sainio's 100 Lace Flowers to Crochet.

Bow Clips and Hair Pins

I am hoping to make more bows in various styles before the Art Bash.  This is a sampling.  All are crocheted using cotton embroidery thread.

Crocheted Flower and Tulle Pins/Clips

These are very versatile.  You can wear them as hair clips, or they can be worn as brooches, or clipped or pinned to scarves or bags.

I hope to post some of my other creations for the Art Bash soon.  If you have any questions about these hair accessories, please just ask by leaving a comment.  I'm happy to provide additional information.

If you live in the Metro Detroit area, you should try to pay a visit to the Berkley Art Bash on June 14th.  Really, I can't say enough good things about this art fair -- it's a nice size and has a wonderful selection of art and artists.  If you do go,  be sure to stop by my booth and say hello.
